As standard the maximum width for a pair of double French doors is said to be 5ft wide. One or two manufacturers make doors up to 6ft without any problems, but most are not strong enough to go over 5ft.

French doors are heavy and should have a cabin hook fitted to prevent the wind straining the hinges, plus the wider the doors the more quickly the wheels will wear out.

Wooden Doors
